Liverpool Throws & Jumps Meeting
20th September 2008

Once again a perfect day for the end of season competition at Wavertree, with the support of the
AAA of England it seems as if we are getting there. A Silver Salver was awarded for attaining a Grade 1 Standard for the under 15s, under 17s, and a cash prize for the under 20s and seniors male and female There was also a cash prize from the Hammer Circle for the best throw male and female in heavy hammer. All this helped to make the day a lot more interesting for both spectators and athletes.

In total there were10 salvers presented by Jim & Pat Green on the day and total prize money of £150, to competitors on the day. £50.00 donated by the Hammer Circle for Heavy Hammer, implements supplied by Malcolm Fenton.

The meeting over ran but that’s part of being a success, with over 80 competitors in all.

Thanks to the AAA for providing the Silver Salvers and the £500.00 support package. Some of the athlete’s who had traveled a long distance (Norwich, Hull, Stoke) for example where rewarded by attaining grade 1 and receiving a silver salver.

We have been running the Throws & Jumps competition for the last four years for the last chance (autumn comp) to get that elusive extra bit either distance or height and a spring comp to check if winter training has gone according to plan. In the four years we have been running the competition it has been getting stronger and more popular and is going from strength to strength,
